Open House Tips|
Getting students to stop at your table might be the most difficult task you face. The most important thing is to make sure students who might be interested know where to find you. Keep these following tips in mind as you register for Open House and plan for the event
Deadlines
-Register and Pay for your table by January 15, 2010 so your organization will be listed on the Open House Directory and on the Open House Web Site as a Participating Organization.
Organization Type
Your organization will be located with other organizations in the Organization Type category you choose when registering. Your organization listing in the Directory and on the Participating Organizations page will also depend on your Organization Type category. Students shopping for organizations will use these categories to identify what areas of Open House they want to visit. Choose your Organization Type carefully.
Spread the word
Tell potential recruits to look for you at Open House.
Tell people what organization type they will find you under.
Publicize your location via facebook and on your organization's web site.
Direct people to the Open House web site where they can find the Directory, Participating Organizations, and Map.
Submit a screensaver to run in the Open Access Labs.
Tell your friends to tell their friends to visit you at Open House.
Tips for the day of the event|
On the day of the event, you want people who do stop at your table to walk away with the impression that your organization is on the ball, is doing some interesting things, and will be a great way to do something fun outside of the classroom.
Make Fliers
Give visitors to your table something to remember you by. Handouts, postcards, magnets, brochures, anything that will keep your organization's name in front of their eyes.
If you're going to create some kind of promotional material, let MSC Print 'n Copy be your copy shop. Additional tip: the earlier you get your materials to Print 'n Copy (or any other copy shop), the better your chances of getting your materials ready on time.
Creative Table Displays
Your display is going to create an impression of your organization, so make that impression appealing. You are "selling" your organization, trying to make it stand out, so spend some time on your display. It is an important part of your "sales pitch."
Tell your story
Show what you do and why people should become members or participate in one of your organization's programs.
